Reading time:

I make minimal, conceptual and performance works, using a variety of media, processes, genres and forms.

In 2012 I won 2nd prize in the Jerwood Drawing Prize for my Ta-iL series, which abstracts forms of traditional Korean roof tiles.

My latest shows, Walk On Yeonji By (2016) and My Yeonji Way (2016) were site-specific installations and performances that extended my interest in popular song and the Korean concept ‘Yeonji’ (a red circle used in traditional make-up).

Another recent show, Cash or Smash (2015), invited the audience to interact with hand-made objects and thereby engage with a performative event alluding to consumerism, waste, and plural economies.

I was born in Jeju Island, Korea, raised in Seoul, and moved to UK in 1997 to become a London-based artist. I studied BA Fine Art at Camberwell College of Arts, London (Sculpture) 1999-2002.
