Still from SEND-IT (2014), sound, video, 8:15
In the video SEND-IT (2014) I strike a slightly comic pose as a 21st century figure mechanised by new technologies. These promise a free nomadism only to trap us in dialogue with screens and machines. An imaginary journey between my UK studio and Korea (my country of origin), is described in a deadpan tone, and brings up fanciful encounters with geopolitical boundaries. Sounds of mechanised consumerism pervade the way of life depicted here. A clipped Romantic landscape provides a simulacral context, as our sensual environment and the nature of identity are overwhelmed by technological paraphernalia.
