I call it my own paper casting method.
I bought a hoola hoop as a form for casting two wheels and gathered all the different parts needed to use as casting forms. I then added tiny pieces of torn paper until it reached a certain resilience and thickness. From here the form could be pulled out and the paper skins of the objects completed as a super light vehicle. The newspaper mash became abstract material, and the bicycle seemed to promise a kind of elevation, a flight as much as a ride.
The bicycle in my work symbolises a journey, a basic vehicle, my father’s bicycle, a time machine for Mrs Alberta Freeman, and as a wish for personal freedom.
