The Bark (2002) performance at the admin centre, in front of the international office, Camberwell College, London
When I finally decided to pay for My Third Year Tuition Fees, I went to a bank and asked for the sum in cash, and in the same denominations as the Bada’s notes notes that I had made with pens and pencils. So, the payment became an artwork and the UK money was used.
The payment process was recorded in the admin centre of the college, and soon after, I got down on all fours and barked in the direction of the international office. There was nothing much else I could do as the power of the institution was so overwhelming. It reminded me of paternal, patriarchal authority over me as a child.
As when I got upset when I was a young girl, I remember, I would pull a blanket over me in order not to be seen crying, and this gradually would lead me into sleep.
